A film about the Balkanski family, represented by the senior of circus art, Aleksandar Balkanski.
The line is descended from the Florentine Malevolti family, which made the trip from Florence to Russia in 1820, where it flourished until the October Revolution. The family constructed its own circus in Saint Petersburg, but it was soon seized by the state. They fled from Russia and made a home in Plovdiv in 1920. At first, the young Aleksandar didn’t want to be a circus performer, but he made peace and became a part of the first circus in Bulgaria. The Balkanski family perform all over the world, including the USA, and take part in the International Circus Festival where they are contenders for the “Golden Clown” Award. They have been invited to perform at a public audience with Pope John Paul II and many others.
