- ORGANIZER
Festival and Congress Centre – Varna is holding a students’ workshop for film writers “Vacation in Varna” 2019 to develop script ideas for a youth feature film. It will be managed by Doctor Petar Ayolov- a teacher of scriptwriting in the Sofia University, “St. Kliment Ohridski”, and the goal is to introduce the students and visitors of the Sea Capital to the art of screenwriting and the methods of realizing their own ideas during the course of the International Film Festival “Love is Folly” 2019. At the end, each participant will describe their idea in a freely structured text of up to 10 pages. The best idea will receive a prize from the festival’s youth jury, mentored by Doctor Petar Ayolov.
- TERMS OF PARTICIPATION
A) WORKSHOP
- The workshop is free of charge. It will take place from 24th to 29th August and will include 3 lectures and a competition.
- Participants must be Bulgarian citizens up to and including 18 years of age.
- Participation in the competition is permitted only to attendants of the workshop. Only one script idea per participant is allowed.
B) COMPETITION
Participants in the competition must present a structured text of up to 10 pages of their script idea for a feature film on the theme “Vacation in Varna” until 29th August 2019. The best idea will be awarded a prize by the festival’s youth jury, mentored by Doctor Petar Ayolov. The prize is a giftcard of 100 lv. from bookstore “Ciela”.
The competing script ideas need to be closely connected to the topic “Vacation in Varna”, which can be subject to interpretation. The text which is to be turned in should not be any longer than 10 pages, including punctuation marks and spaces. The ideas must be completely original and must not contain any material plagiarized from already existing works under the Copyright protection law or any other legal protection. The main criteria in the evaluation of participants’ works will be originality, the relation to the topic, and most of all, the script’s structure and how the central idea is ultimately presented.
Participants retain all rights to their original ideas.
